1. Arenal Observatory Lodge Bird Tours
Nestled at the foot of Costa Rica’s Arenal volcano, the Arenal Observatory Lodge is a bird lovers paradise. The lodge claims to have 500 bird species within its forest. You can purchase a day pass for **$20 USD** and kind of DIY your birding adventure or you can book a bird tour. The lodge offers 11km of hiking trails, 350 hectares of reserve area, hanging bridges, waterfalls and observation towers. In my opinion, this is a must stop on your trip to La Fortuna even if it is just a quick stop to see the views. This place would be perfect for sunset.

Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridge Park is well known for its astounding hanging bridges in the cloud forest; however, it is also a great place for bird watching. The tours at Mistico guide you through the park where they claim to have over 300 bird species, both local and migratory. If you choose to do bird watching at a different location, I still recommend visiting this park to walk across the hanging bridges.
